About the artist

Nina Jolina Heissel is a visual artist working with photography and sculpture. She began exploring these mediums in tandem, though she now develops them separately, each with its own focus and language.

A central element in her work is wood. Her pieces are characterized by structures, repetitions, and carefully considered arrangements, often in dialogue with natural environments. While her earlier photographic work often involved layered compositions, she now increasingly focuses on the spatial arrangements of her pieces, exploring how images and forms interact within a room.

Through the interplay of sculpture, photography, and organic materials, her work becomes both visually and tactilely engaging. In her practice, Nina Jolina Heissel seeks a balance between material, form, and environment, making the subtle patterns and rhythms visible and perceptible.
